Someone recently asked me why I cut strips and squares from my stash . . . . here's the answer in pictures!

I think I deserve another cookie . . . perhaps Pepperidge Farm, the minty chocolate ones, ummmm.

Quilt for a Cause

I was simply soooo very excited . . . .

. . . . that I forgot to remember.

Most of this project was in pre-sewn vertical sections in a baggie. I wanted to get it together "speedy quick."

And simply cut a few more 2" x 6" light rectangles to assemble the remaining vertical rows.

Without paying attention to "THE RULE" . . . . block "B" MUST match block "A" . . . in this case in height . . . . which is 6-1/8th.

The new light rectangles I put in were almost 1/4" off . . . each and every one. This caused unmatched seams and extensive buckling in the middle of the vertical rows. (very heavy sigh).

I don't post about all of my mistakes; however, I especially wanted the newbie quilters out there to realize that the A and B block rule never changes. . . . . no matter how excited one gets about a project.

Ohhhhh, how I love packages!

My good buddy G.B. got a jump on my Birthday and sent me some yummy friendship bread a week early. And just look at that beautiful card. Such a thoughtful friend. Thank you G.B. I miss you!!!

Thumbelina's Thimbles

. . . . still assembling, . . . . still laying out on the design wall. (Notice I didn't say lining up!) Somehow that was too hard to do after a long day of work.

Still, I really like playing with cheerful 1930's colors. They remind me of summer flowers.

Mahhhh, my room's clean . . . can I have a cookie now?

Much better don't you think. And I barely had to move any stuff to the other side, away from the camera.

Now here's the summertime challenge. One red box holds starched fabric sections ready for trimming, one red box holds unstarched fabric sections, as does one smaller box and a short stack of "extras that wouldn't fit." (The lids hold cut strips.)

And here we have one of the last boxes to go through. I'll be tearing a 7" - 12" section off of various pieces in preparation for starching and trimming. The remainder gets refolding and I tidy up the box.

I try to do this at least once a year. This prevents fade lines along the fold, reminds me of what I have, and adds new life to my fabric strips and squares. This is when the light bulbs really start to go off as colors, pieces, and parcels get shuffled about.

However, nowhere in all of these bins did I find my box of time. Hmmm, wonder if the elves took it?

It's a woman's perogative to change her mind . . .

Thus the newest layout. I'm still trying to re-format the stuff on the bottom over to the left side. But no matter which template I use, it won't work.

Any thoughts on fixing this would be greatly appreciated.
