Trick or treat . . .

or is it Thanksgiving, perhaps Christmas.  Any minute now I expect the big box store to put out Valentine cards.  Does anyone else see a problem in this "rush the holidays" marketing mentality.  Sheesh.
Thank goodness I live in the country.  For the most part, the holiday hoopla passes me by.
There is some color in the woods, a lot of which is brown.  We need rain badly.
Unexpectedly off today, I managed to finish painting the porch glider.  It's been a 2-week project.  Dolly chewed on it first, then the bunnies.  Intensive sanding took out the bumps.
The joints are glued, sanding and painting come next.  Then I can move on to the next refinish-it projects.  Thanks to these 70-80 degree days, Dolly and I are getting a lot of porch time in.

Ahhh yes . . .

Dolly says she's plum tuckered out and needs a break.
We'll be back in awhile.

Piece by piece, row by row

About 20 years ago, a dear friend gifted me with pieces for pineapple placemats.  Remember those?

I've added a few more colors and am re-purposing them into a QOV top.  Bye bye baggies.

Still working on depth of field while trying to hold on to 120 pounds of pup.

Some might suggest I leave the wee doggie at home, but she has to learn to be still when mom says, "wait".  Well okay, sometimes I have to say it loudly.
See what I mean about photogenic.  The camera loves that face and so do I.

What to do when your photographic memory . . .

Runs out of film.
Make a numbered list with all the colors for a project,

In sequence, according to how they'll be laid out in the pattern.  Include how many strips are cut per color.
As you cut the fabric strips, assign a number to each stack.
Coordinating with the master list.

And just in case you'd like to join in, the pattern is called Baltimore Square and can be found on the Wyndham Fabric Free Pattern web page.
Dolly is nodding in agreement.  She knows how often I misplace things now that I'm out of film.

Until then, keep stitchin' . . .

Practicing . . .

Dolly decided we needed a walk.  So I packed up the water bottles, camera, and off we went to the folk school.
Now let me just clarify that holding on to 120 pounds of willful pup while framing any shot is, to put it mildly, "a challenge."
In the downstairs of Keith House, marbling on paper class was progressing nicely.
The old log cabin by the garden.  Notice I'm going for texture . . . the roof, the wood, the hay.
Some wonderful light coming through the dog trot part of the cabin.

Fall Festival was held at John C. Campbell this past weekend, thus the pumpkins.  I did not attend, but am very glad they had great weather.  Last year it was cancelled due to rain.
