Gather 'round, I've news to share.

 My last trip to PA was 4 years ago and things have changed since then.

The Old Country Store has new owners and the stock has changed a bit.  There seemed to be less of everything, in particular Civil War prints.  However, they had a nice selection of lights and brights for around $9.25 a yard.  Their gift selection has changed also.  After looking for birthday gifts, I left empty handed.  The upstairs portion is now closed.

Imagine my surprise when I came across Martins, quite accidentally.  Not a big store certainly, but most fabric was $8.26 a yard, flat folds sold for $3.98 a yard.  A nice selection of the new Modas, as well as older prints to add to the stash.  They also had plaids, flannels, mat boards, thread, etc.

If you're traveling alone or with a pal, here's the perfect place to stay.  Countryside Motel in Ronks, PA.  Owners Ed and Judy are kind, gracious, efficient, helpful, and courteous.  I couldn't have asked for a cleaner, prettier room to get rested and refreshed.  There's no pool, breakfast bar, tennis courts, or chauffeured limousine service,  but for $55.00 a night in the heart of Amish country, it's perfect.

Sadly, Sauders in Denver has closed and Sylvia Petersheim's shop in Bird-In-Hand has closed.  I understand she has retired to Arizona.

For those of you interested in Wilbur's chocolates, they do have mail order.  Which is probably smarter, by the way.  Once you walk in and see the great selection, you'll need a Sherpa and a year's membership at the gym.  Just be sure to take the cooler if you're going in July.  We forgot ours.

On the road again . . .

It was a very fast trip,

 Especially since I got sick and had to leave early.

However, before the bug caught up with me, I managed to get in some shopping.

and saw a few quilts.

Sadly, I had forgotten what traffic can be like at that time of the year.  School was out.  Evidently no one was visiting the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, the Statue of Liberty, Carlsbad Caverns, Chimney Rock, or the Badlands.  They were all in PA.

I will NEVER go in June again.  It was that crazy.  Not to mention very hot and more humid than a storm over the pacific while paddling through in a birch bark canoe.  Driving home with bronchitis was no fun either, but thank goodness for my GPS and DayQuil.  They got me through.

Thank goodness the weather was wonderful.  Cool and breezy.

Yes, I managed to bring home a bit of fabric, but right now I'm working on older projects.  Will share soon.

Christmas in June?

Am I early or late?

Probably late, as this was started maybe 5 years ago.  A very simple pattern utilizing a busy background print.  I'm thinkin' maybe "table topper".

Next up are a few items from Jill's shop.  

 If you have a grandchild heading off to college and can't make them a quilt, here's one option, kitties!

This little remnant is so adorable, it almost came home with me.

Finito, Completo, Bandito

 Ooops, no banditos . . . sorry, I was on a roll.

This baggie is busted.  Squares going back to 1989 / 1990 ? . . . one of the very first classes I took.

Initially, I used a rather odd combination of colors, soft pastels and vibrant darks.  However, the light lavender leaning towards gray sashing with pale yellow works well to calm and coordinate.

Of course, just as I finished assembling this beauty, another baggie with even more of the same blocks was discovered.   Big SIGH!
