Another never ending story

This little ditty was begun about 7 years ago. It was assembled, pinned and quilted about one-fourth of the way. Then I got scared and took it apart down to the quilt top. Whereupon I replaced a few blocks.


Once again, I assembled and pinned it, but took another look and worried some more. So I took it all apart. And replaced more blocks.

You can see where some of the quilting lines are drawn in.

Why all the work? Some of you may remember a Springmaid brand black that literally disintegrated in the wash. I owned some, but was not sure which was used where in the quilt. So I removed any questionable black. Finally, I think it's ready to be finished. Let's hope those marking lines come out.

On a side note, thanks to all of you who left messages regarding my dearest pal. As always, your kind thoughts and words were most appreciated.

A very sad farewell

My dearest pal of 15 years left me yesterday. Her health began a serious decline last July, so I am grateful for the 11 remaining months we had together. In the spirit of all loving dogs, her enthusiam for each new day never wavered. She was a perpetual living lesson in optimism and I shall miss her dearly.

I'm sure you'll understand why another blogging break is in order.

Someone recently asked me why I cut strips and squares from my stash . . . . here's the answer in pictures!

I think I deserve another cookie . . . perhaps Pepperidge Farm, the minty chocolate ones, ummmm.

Quilt for a Cause

I was simply soooo very excited . . . .

. . . . that I forgot to remember.

Most of this project was in pre-sewn vertical sections in a baggie. I wanted to get it together "speedy quick."

And simply cut a few more 2" x 6" light rectangles to assemble the remaining vertical rows.

Without paying attention to "THE RULE" . . . . block "B" MUST match block "A" . . . in this case in height . . . . which is 6-1/8th.

The new light rectangles I put in were almost 1/4" off . . . each and every one. This caused unmatched seams and extensive buckling in the middle of the vertical rows. (very heavy sigh).

I don't post about all of my mistakes; however, I especially wanted the newbie quilters out there to realize that the A and B block rule never changes. . . . . no matter how excited one gets about a project.
