You may recall this was begun in December 2007 . . .

It was quilted in October 2013.

 Now finally bound and finished, except for the label.

 Why has it taken so long . . . this was the quilt I was working on when my dad died.  Sometimes things have to wait.

 You'll notice I'm including the wonky pictures.  

 There's been a love/hate relationship between my Nikon and I for the past 3 years.  No matter what book, article, or video I absorbed . . . No matter what button, gizmo, or dial I adjusted . . . things just came out WRONG.  Well, except for the wee pup who is so photogenic Iams should put her on the big bag of chow.  Cover to cover, she'd fill the whole bag and look great doing it.

 But quilts are another matter.  Especially feather-quilted, solid-colored ones with lots of black.

 However I'm here to tell you THERE'S HOPE!  See that new title on the lower right hand side of my blog.  The one for Mike Browne?

Well, let's just say this man knows his Nikon.  His tutorial videos are very helpful.  Informative, succinct, not to mention funny.  I'm LEARNING things and they are actually starting to make sense.

Someone's getting tired just watching me adjust dials.  The smoke alarm almost went off I was thinking so hard.

So if there's hope for me, there's definitely hope for the rest of those who swore to never touch their camera again.

There's a lot going on here at Doooo-ville

Window washing, porch scrubbing, furniture rearranging, curtain hanging, floor mopping, and yes  . .

 even screen fixing is happening here.

 One never knows when needle and thread will come in handy.

 The herbs need trimming and drying.

 Dolly got a bath!

 And an old quilt top has a new border.

 Who knew this fabric I never really liked would work so well.

The 9 patch variation with twirlies, remember that one?  Not sure when I started it, but sure hope to finish it soon.

Meanwhile, Dolly and I will be on blog break for a bit.

Several years ago,

I filled a plastic bin with blue and yellow 2" squares.  After making several doll quilts, there were quite a few left.

 The new goal is to use up 3,840 of them in a queen size quilt.  I'm more than half way there.

 I found some old pictures today, reminding me that there are just 117 days left until Christmas.

Remember how adorable my bunnies were?  I really miss them, but know they are in good homes.

What's up Wednesday

Here they are . . .

 the changing of the leaves.

 My lettuce leaf basil is ready to pick.

 Another idea for fall is percolating.

The block is trimmed with this ruler, which has been around for a loooong time.  It's dated 1989 and works just as well as any other I've seen.

 Recent night time temps in the 60s have made us feel quite frosty lately.  Sadly, we're going back up to 91 this week.

And last, but certainly not least . . . if you're looking for an adventure story, check out any one of Clive Cussler's books.  I love them all.  They're a cross between Agent 007 and Jacques Costeau.  You'll often encounter a high-speed boat chase, a near helicopter mishap, nefarious criminals with secret weapons, multiple explosions, and what I love most about Mr. Cussler's books, his female characters always command respect.  See if they are downloadable via your library's web site and overdrive.com.

 The more you have, the more interest is added.

 This weekend's project will include Fall colors.  Oh yes indeed-y.

And a porch bath for the wee pup . . . always an adventure.
