Things my dad forgot to mention . . .

Rule #1: Never paint a porch ceiling with clear sealant as the sun goes down, you can't tell where the new paint begins and ends after you move the ladder.

Rule #2: Never paint a porch ceiling by porch light. The bugs will come, the bugs will stay, and you'll end up sanding off bug bodies all around the light.

Dumb bugs!

Painting by moonlight . . .

. . . well, actually porchlight.
Which makes it interesting let me tell ya.
Katydids were visiting regularly, prompting Dolly into a game of "catch me if you can."

As you can see, someone is not used to working late . . . LOL!

Be sure to get out there and enjoy fleeting Fall.

Until then, keep stitchin' . . .

A tale of 2 ladders

Today's goal was to paint an additional 3 vertical feet on the west wall.

This required a ladder. On the left, you have ladder A. Traditional, aluminum, 22 foot, light enough but somewhat bulky, hard on the feet, cost $35.00 at the flea market(used).

Plus it comes with the jiggles, as in Jello. No matter where you place your feet, your hands, or your paint can. . . . the wiggles and wobbles happen. This is not a good thing when you're 16 feet up in the air and you'd rather not be.

But life is full of must do's so you do them. Right!

To run a comparison, I carried the new adjustable step ladder around from the front porch and set it up. Leveled it off with a rock and a board under it's left foot. (Do ladders have feet?)

Climbed up to start the next segment. No wiggles. Not a one. Wider treads for my tired feet. Heavier ladder, true. Somewhat bulky to carry around, true. Got it on sale at Lowe's at $50.00 off, true. Also used a 10% off coupon.

There's a moral to this story, but you have to ask yourself, is it worth the cost of a new ladder to be safer 16-20 feet in the air. You betcha.

And how do you save the additional 10% off? Easy.

At your post office ask for a change of address packet. There should be a 10% off Lowe's or Home Depot coupon inside.

Tell 'em San sent ya.

Since I'm not the Jolly Green Giant

About 15 feet is as high as I'm able to paint on the step ladder. And believe me, that's high enough!

The trim is started and I'm very pleased I chose a complimentary color.

Dolly isn't bored by the whole color concept, she's tired. We just finished our big walk around the block. And it was wonderfully cool this morning.
Here comes Fall!

A teeny bit of . . .

Progress.

Window trim color - Rawhide - by Olympic paints. It only took 2 trips to Lowe's and 9 different sample colors to finally decide.

Except for the truck rides to and from Lowe's, Dolly is not too enthusiastic about the new paint colors. Her mom, however, is thrilled that progress is being made.
