On this Memorial Day Weekend,

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who work to keep our country free.

Around here Spring means

 Yard Work!

 On Saturday, I managed to burn a good portion of the south 40.  The tall grass is a haven for mice and snakes, so it must come down.  Carbon is good for the soil.

In the center section is a growth of very nasty thorny bushes.  I'll build a good sized bonfire and then dig up the roots.  It's the only thing I can think of, other than getting a goat.

Even Dolly is not exempt from Spring cleaning.  She'll be getting a Marine haircut very soon.

We had a low of 32 this morning, which is a vast improvement over last week's 20-degree temps.

Have you ordered your garden seeds yet?

Wow, a "Together" Top

Granted, it's not a big piece.

True, I'm still deciding on border fabric.

The outer one is a warm purple with a touch of orange; although, it looks black here.  I have another print in warm green with small flowers that might work better.  Problem is the center section is so busy I believe a framing fabric is the way to go.

Any suggestions?

Today, we were living in a snow globe.

 The snow kept swirling all around us, coming in fast and then slow.

But nothing really stayed on the ground.  The wind chill, however, was around 24 all day.  Brrrr

Yesterday, we saw a bit of sun, whereupon I opened the doors to let some winter out.
Here are Thimbell's 7 babies enjoying front-porch breezes.  They were born on February 16th in a burrow deep under the dog house.  At 3 weeks of age, I finally caught them.  The silver one is named Hi-Ho.  They'll be ready for adoption in 3 weeks.

After taking care of all the furry four-footers on Sunday, I spent the rest of my afternoon cleaning up chaos.  I never know how so much fabric jumps out of the box and lands in various areas of the sewing room.  Elves or Gremlins, it's a question to be sure.  I'm certain this never happens to you!
