Turtle-ing!

 . . . or maybe it's Turtle-ish.  A definition of very slow action with which to describe my quilt progress.

However, I'm sure it only applies to me (lol) since 20+ years is a long time to be working on a quilt.  Evidently the top was unearthed and quilted in 2012.  When adding the binding, I noticed the date quilted in in one corner.

I taught this class in the 1990s.  It's fun, scrappy, and when you make one block, you're actually making 2, so you get 2 quilts for 1.  The binding choice is a Jinny Beyer turquoise, which also goes back about 20 years.

By the way, the hand/foot model is my dear friend Louise, fellow quilter and teacher.  I understand she works for fabric!

You'll notice some very familiar / old prints here, some you may even have in your stash.

After a low of 18 degrees last night, Dolly and I are embracing the warm sunshine coming through the windows.  

If furry and feathered ones reside in your yard, don't forget to check their water this morning.  Hypothermia happens.

Yeah, progress!

 Two more bindings were begun last evening.

 This small Amish project goes back about 9 years.

 Darker squares border the 25-patch simply because I ran out of the Marcus light blue print.  But hey, I like it!

Details make the difference.  The blue rose square is from around 1978, but the fabric may be older. I recall cutting out a long skirt, which never got done.  Do you remember those knee-length skirts with single and double ruffled hems?  They were so fun and frilly.

"The Stack" is getting taller!  It's almost time to set up my old lap top so I can watch Downton.

A small step and a big finish . . .

A while back, Lynn Dykstra posted a comment on her blog that has stuck with me.

She mentioned setting a goal of getting each quilt project one more step towards completion.

I'm embracing this concept for 2016.  I'm initiating the one-step program.

One border, one baggie, one block, or just one binding at a time.  We'll get there.

This was a summer project using 1-3/4" solid and hand-dyed squares.  Finally, the border was applied last night.

And, yes, I completed the quilting on the 25-patch (shown last Saturday).

One small step for man, one giant step towards quilt finishing.

Welcome to my parlor.

I've always wanted to have a Victorian parlor.  A cozy nest to read by the fire.

 So I've rearranged all the furniture by the bay window.  This set-up allows plenty of lighting for quilt binding.

Proper lighting is a tricky thing in my great room and requires careful planning.  Once winter's dark sets in, the high, tall windows emphasize the gloom.

Now when the moon is full, I'll be able to sit in my parlor, look up, and enjoy the view.

Here's the start of "the stack"!!!  Quilts waiting for hand binding.

Late last night the binding was begun on the Amish Boston commons, a quilt I started at least 6 years ago.  It's high time it was finished.  Perhaps that should be my phrase for 2016, "it's high time" !

By putting "the stack" front and center so to speak, it reminds me they must be completed this winter.  Summertime will not do.

A weekend marathon of Downton and The Great British Baking Show are on my agenda.

 Here's Dolly, vigilant as ever, making sure no kitties enter her domain.  This lion roars at kitties, even though they do us a great service and go mousing in the south 40.

We're at 32 degrees this morning, after a low of 17 last night.  I do believe winter has found us.

Inspired by Fall and a question.

Here's another top inspired by nature.  Four 6-1/2" scrappy squares assembled into one unit and then framed by yellow.

Sometimes bright is good and gets us out of our comfort zone.

I'm trying to set up my pinterest site, but can't quite find the right linkage to make clicking on "Pinterest" at the top of the page work.

As it stands now, after clicking on Pinterest, the visitor then has to click on Gypsy at the top right corner.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to correct this wee problem?
