Today I was invited to a low country boil. . .

. . . and since I've never tasted a boiled country, low or otherwise, I really wanted to go.

Perhaps they serve it with grits (which I don't like), or gravy (which I do).

However, since I've worked 13 days in a row, with several of them lasting 12-hours,. . . I decided that window sanding and sealing were in order.

I managed to work on 6. Some got first coat, some got second. There are 15 windows in all, but the problem is, this clear coat from Sherwin-Williams takes hours and hours to dry.

So Dolly spent the day giving me her sad face, as I had promised her a walk in the park. To compensate, she got plenty of chicken pieces and liver over her chow tonight. And of course a vow that we'll hit the park first thing tomorrow. . .

. . . and I must keep this promise since I'm out of chicken liver!

Acrobats for hire!

I discovered that the trick to getting my house painted was finding the right group of acrobats.

It takes great balance and nerves of steel, especially when the peak stands near 30 feet!

There are shallow angles with slippery slopes, which only a contortunist can manage.

Somehow they juggle buckets and brushes while keeping their balance. (I got dizzy just taking the pictures.)

Naturally, they have to work in tandem to create perfect choreography.

Dolly kept trying to join the act, but I wouldn't let her climb a ladder. No sirreee, my pup is better on the pumpkin toss to be sure.

In 2 days, this crew had the house done. Mother nature provided the great weather and I provided the veggie ham soup with cornbread muffins and plenty of lemonade.

Great teamwork all around!

I went, I saw, AND I took pictures!

You may recall that the John C. Campbell Fall Festival is always held the first weekend in October. Despite the crisp chilly weather yesterday, they had a very large crowd.

Knowing that, I like to go very early on Sunday morning when there is space in the booths to take pictures.

I visit with various friends who are vendors, enjoy viewing the lovely workmanship which seems to get better each year . . .

And head home.
This year I made a new friend, but don't think Dolly would appreciate the competition, so I left her there.
