My theory on creative environments is that they can always be improved. Since my new sewing area is so much smaller, I've had to think outside the box and put away my fold-up ironing board.

This "big board" was made to go on top of my regular ironing board. After re-padding the surface with some thick knit fabric, a cotton mattress pad, and a new cover quickly sewn up last night (with Dolly's help), I moved it to this spot.

The wooden trunk was built by my dad around 1965 and we used it for camp. Do any of you remember Camp Sandy Cove? At that time it was in Maryland on the shore of the Chesapeake. Sadly, there's a convention center there now.

Not only does the trunk create the right height, but allows for extra storage of fiberfill and other minimally used "stuff."

This weekend I plan on putting my design walls up. Oh happy day!

Unlike those poor folks in Oklahoma . . .

Our snow fall barely totaled one inch.

This is good. I get to enjoy the wonderland view and Dolly gets to play in it once again.

Progress

Do you remember my newly painted yellow closet?

Well the last of the shelves finally went up and I was able to move 62 bolts of fabric onto the lower one.

Yup, 62.

These are not full bolts by any means. I brought home empty cardbord from a friend's fabric shop and proceeded to wind anything I had 2 or more yards of onto the bolt. Then I wrote the yardage on the top and whether or not it was washed.

Keep in mind that some of this stuff has been packed in bins for 10-15 years. I had no idea what I had . . . but now I do.

Hopefully soon I'll be able to start using it up. Now that would truly be progress.

This heart-shaped, hand-made bowl was purchased years ago.

Being a quilter, I'm permitted to change my mind about color any day of the week, month, or year. Thus, I decided that pink and white goes with red . . .

. . . . pink and muslin goes with pink and white,

. . . heart patterned placemats are especially cheery,

. . . and red and white quilts brighten up the day any time.
