Some books are written in which the animals talk.

Which is a fine concept and very entertaining indeed.

However, if I were to write a book in which quilts could talk,

the story would go something like this . . .
"Sit by me, pleeezze sit by me.  We'll have a long conversation about my many travels, the classes I've been to, the walls I've graced, and (ohh, shiver) the storage boxes I've waited in.  Dark and scary were those storage bins!  But I'm out now and (ahhh, very big sigh) the clean, clear air is wonderful.  We love it here in the mountains.  Ohhh yes, come sit by me."

"Pffft, whadda ya braggin on Basket.  Sounds like yous got moh miles thanst sense.  Chust 'cause yous been sum places 'n seen sum things, dont mean ta rest ta us ist chopt liva."
"I got moh shine thanst yous Basket."  "Tis at ol scrap bin thats I'm frum 'n proud tuvit!"  "Chust hope she'st finished wid me soon.  That wuld be guud.  Ahhh yes'sirree-Bob it wuud."

What are your quilts talking about?

Sunshine on my shoulder makes me happy.

There's a bit of frost this morning, so I thought I'd share a picture of the garden to remind us that winter will be passing.  The garden catalogs should be showing up any day now.

I'm taking a poll by the way.  Do you have a particular favorite seed company that never fails?  We'd love to know all about it.  Leave a comment won't you.
On the quilting side of the news, and indeed this is news . . .

the 1990 pineapple is pinned.
Oh I know you find this hard to believe.
I personally am still in shock over the fact, but yes, it's done.
With the help of my favorite cheerleader, Dolly.

Wishing you all a warm, sunshiny day no matter how much snow is on the ground.

Combating the doldrums with quilts.

Except for today, we've been experiencing typical gray, drizzly, dreary, winter weather.

Curl up with a book and take a nap weather.   Know what I mean?
So after putting away Xmas, I brought out the BIG guns.  Color!
High-energy color.
Stop in your tracks and soak it in color.
Quilts make a house a home, don't you think?
We're almost ready for company.  And curling up with a good book to take a nap.

Until then, keep stitchin' . . .

Weather, go figure.

Last Saturday, we had fluffy snow.
Today the front door is open, the laundry is drying on the porch, and I'm wearing short sleeves.
And sewing of course.
For all of our neighbors to the west dealing with the major ice storm . . .
Dolly and I ask you to stay home, be safe, and bring all your furry friends inside.

Thursday musings

Small windows of sewing time allow me to work on the green/yellow blocks.
Then I discovered this bin of units of 6.  What were these for?  I have no idea.  A border for something probably.  Now that my photographic memory is out of film, I really do need to write myself notes.

An idea from pinterest popped up, and I came up with this.  Just an idea, still deciding.  However, it sure would use up a LOT of 2" squares.  A goal of mine for 2017.
That's the beauty of winter. Time to play around with ideas while the garden sleeps.
Until then, keep stitchin' . . .
