Halloooo, anybody out there?

Yes I know I've been MIA, but things are really "hoppening" around here!

I've totally emptied the sewing room.  Truly!

The carpets got cleaned and I'm doing major remov-ations.  BIG doin's.  

We'll be back with the first installment as soon as I have the new cabinets together.

It was so hot last weekend,

I kept glancing down to verify there were no striped socks or ruby red slippers on my feet.

So I stayed in the A/C room and made more 25 patch blocks, while trying to use up a vast variety of old 2" squares.

Do you see the bright yellow one with the stripe print?  If you can date that piece you'll win not 1, but 2 bunnies.  AND, you get to pick which ones.    

It took FOREVER to find the right alternate square print in my stash.  But after several hours of auditioning, I decided on this Marcus miniature.  The main color is blue, but it reads gray from a distance.

It's almost done, but not quite.  I have plans for a grand finale.  Oh yes indeed.  Something radical and rather different for me.  Pinterest inspires me.

Mother nature is changing her gown of green.  Do you see?

And over here by the fence, a few strawberry leaves are just beginning.

So if you too find yourself wearing ruby red slippers and striped socks, know that Ol' Man Winter will be frosting the pumpkins very soon.

Growing Cinderella's carriage, one rain drop at a time.

These are volunteer pumpkins.

 From a blue/gray pumpkin I bought last year and set out in the compost area.

 After the manure was thrown in, up came many seedlings.  All seem to be coming up white, which I'm very excited about.  I've been wanting to grow white pumpkins for 3 years now.

The first volunteer cantaloupe is almost ready to pick.

This is the leaf /compost bin and the first of 4 pumpkin patches.  Volunteers abound, but no pumpkins are sprouting here as of yet.  The patch furthest down the hill, which gets the most sun, has pumpkins.

Rebecca's babies, 3 weeks old.  They are so cute and curious.  I get to hold them for just a minute every morning.  It makes my whole day.

To market, to market, to buy a fat pig . . .

Then home again, home again, jiggity jig.

It was a beautiful day for a drive through the Ocoee gorge on the way to the Mennonite Market in Benton, Tennessee.

I was able to stock up on all of my favorite things like sugar cube cantaloupe and home grown potatoes.  If you've never had freshly dug potatoes, then you're missing out on something wonderful.

Apples are starting to come in and I picked a bunch this weekend.  It's time to get out the big pot and start canning.  Winter is just around the corner.
